The Office room addition (the completion)

This is the part that stalled me for awhile, but I do like the place it’s at, and it adds a whole other dimension, look where our home used to end.

And now…

Now its open (somewhat messy) but open! Steph and I sewed the curtains with fabric from Ikea

And we made the curtain rods out of Large Anthro knobs and wooden dowels painted white, For one window we used flowered knobs, one yellow and one blue

and for the other window we used blue/yellow knobs on each side.

Making the curtains was easier than I thought, it’s easy to sew in straight lines ;)

Steph brought this awesome sign back from NYC

The Rug we cut out of a carpet remnant my boss from the antique store gave me

The Shelf I found at a garage sale for $10 and the yellow lamp was bequeathed to me from my grandmother.

Don’t you love the owl?!

Look at all three of our animals hanging by Nick, trying to prevent him from getting anything done

Especially Jack, Well, the office is done and I’m proud of our addition, what do you think?

The Office room addition (the continuation)

Oh the office, all it’s just hammer, nails, wood and some paint, that’s it right? ;) Nick calls this room “the room that youtube built” its amazing really how many tutorials there are online! Ok so we were at the black waterproofing layer. Next we used special nails that had little buffers built in so there was a gap between the wire and the wall

Next we covered the wire with 2 coats of stucco mix (after covering the windows of course)

On the inside we covered the walls with drywall

Painting around all these little windows was sure fun (not, took forever!)

Believe it or not this is the floor After a few rounds of scraping glue off. Layer upon layer, with a few asrto turf strings still attached

Hanging the doors took a few tries, but after a few shims we were good to go

Now, after the a few coats of primer and paint on ceiling, walls, and trim… we started in on the floors, it took several layers of primer, paint and… then we used the wrong clear coat and it turned out foggy

…so we did it all again

Tada!

I really love how the yellow turned out, so sunny! Decorated office next!

The Office room addition (the process)

I’m not gonna lie, this project isn’t new. Its been done for a while but it was a long process and the final room never seemed totally done(decorating wise). It still doesn’t but its pretty darn close.

The Before:

Hideous! I can’t wait until we can paint the house in general but this room was just terrible,

Originally it had screens in the metal frames. Those were way too flimsy so we re-framed, luckily we had the study posts in the corners so we just needed to build in between.

Well I guess I “personally” didn’t help frame, but I was great moral support!

Then the windows were hung and plywood nailed to the outside

Next came Insulation (don’t you love how quickly projects go in the blog world?)

And the Rolls of waterproofing material covered the outside. But we cut a hole for the doggie door of course!

Pt. 2 next!
