Chalkboard Wall

For awhile I haven’t been satisfied with our master bedroom/ my office space. I still loved the color green it just seemed like so much. Nick was skeptical but after some pleading and promising the vision in my head would turn out grand, he agreed.

So after ordering supplies and having a friday off while he was at work, I recruited some boys with the promise of mesa frozen yogurt to tape off the wall…

{Lilu and Arthas had to be on the bed, they just couldn’t be left out of the party}

and paint with chalkboard paint!

I loved how it looked even without chalk on it, it gives the room so much more dimension

After letting it dry for a few days, the instructions said to cure the wall by rubbing chalk across the entire surface.

and then it was writable! I immediately began a running to do list and Nick’s friend christened the wall by writing RED RUM, how sweet

Great for a quick, easy and impactful birthday message (yes Nick’s birthday is in September…this post took me awhile to take pictures of/upload said pictures to computer/remember to write/actually write…I know Imma slacker)

I love the random feel of it but next up I really want to do an all over the wall pattern, I think it’d be great, until it got ruined…

for now, I’m just super happy with it, the master bedroom is often the hardest/last room to focus on, that has definitely been true with us. Better late than never and I really enjoy our new chalkboard wall!

Some people were really surprised with it, thinking it more for a kid’s room but I think it is a great choice, and relatively inexpensive. We did splurge and get Benjamin Moore paint, $19 a quart and we used two (I bought 4, kinda over-did it, future projects!!) to do 2 coats, it seemed to cover really well after one, but to be safe…hope you like, and as an added plus we ran the cords from the tv through the wall! looks sooo much better!

coming up next is Christmas!!

2011 Corgi Blogger Gift Exchange

Last year the fabulous Kelly from Corgi Butts got all of us together for a Corgi Blogger gift exchange as seen here. Well now that she has a human baby, that means a more hectic holiday season than ever. So I offered to host this years gift exchange! I realize I’m no kelly, But here goes!

Rules (copied from Kelly)

You just need a corgi (or other breed/mix of dog) and a blog (so that you can share what you receive with everyone!)

The exchange is set up to go on Elfster.com.   You have until November 30th to sign up.   The drawing to match up secret Santas will take place the 1st of December. Then all you have to do is buy some gifts for the owner’s dog that you get and mail them to him/her by Christmas (and include a message that lets them know who sent them the wonderful presents!).  Elfster will provide you with their name and mailing address and you can ask them anonymous questions so they will not find out who you are until they receive their gift/you tell them!  You can also add gifts that you would like to a wish list so your secret santa knows what to get you!  When you receive your gift, please do not open them until Christmas (or Hanukkah if you are Jewish) and then post what you got on your blog!

Sorry anyone who participated last year (which if you did you got an invite today) I know this is later than last year! But hopefully everyone will still have time to get presents and what not!! let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to participate at me(at)katrandall(dot)com!  I will just check to make sure that you have a blog & dog :)  U.S. & Canada residents only please (shipping overseas is pricey! sorry!).

Please do not sign up if you are not committed to sending a gift.  No one wants to put effort in and have their pup not get a gift in return

thanks!
