7 “things” in the next 7 months

I read this post by oh, hello friend this morning and it really resonated with me.

I am a designer, I like to make, to thrift (which I really see as treasure hunt) to design and to create. I want to make anything and everything and I am constantly seeing new things. Another quote that hit me was this one by Chris Piascik

I am a truly victim of over-inspiration. Whether the facilitator is my google reader, full of endless design blogs, pinterest (of course.) Or my fantastic designer friends on facebook. It all just really amps me up and makes me want to try those things too. I’m a constant ”I could do that” person. Even considering that I have yet to conquer my current projects, make a dent in my crazy huge amount of crafting supplies or even sit down and really figure out my new camera.

I have realized that this stage of life, post school, 9-5 job and no kids I really have the most time to myself I will ever have in the next several decades. Which just leads to me stressing that when I watch Project Runway that I’m under-utilizing my time! I have been kinda discouraged by it, but that quote invigorated me, I can do anything, So.

I am making a list, narrowing down the everything to 7 things. This is somewhat expanding on some of my new year’s resolutions (Update: I am doing great on 1,6,8,9,11. Making steady progress on 3,5,12, and am not doing so hot on 2,4,7, & 10.) So here is a list of things I’m going to do in the upcoming future. One of my resolutions was make something each month, now that we are pretty much done with May, there are 7 months left in the year. Here are the 7 things I’m going to do before 2013.

1. Make some Jewelry: I have so many baubles, beads and finds I’d love to turn into jewelry, really really want to do this regularly
2. Fashion: Putting together thrifty outfits, and moving beyond this post. I also have to wear or toss everything I own by 12/31
3. Screenprinting (I still have yet to really do anything besides this, since I got the kit for my birthday)
4. Wall Art: I don’t know if this means displaying a collection like this (but way bigger), painting canvas or ?? but I want something on my walls to be mine.
5. Sewing/ Altering clothing: Really obsessed with Cotton & Curls right now, I want to be her
6. Build my website: katrandall.com. Ya, hasn’t changed in 3 years, Tsk tsk on me. I have a great idea, but now I need to execute.
7. Make/ strongly alter a piece of furniture: currently thinking an ingenius coffee table…don’t know beyond that

So that is that, I know I can’t do everything so these 7 things seem attainable in the next year, who knows maybe one of them will reign supreme as a new hobby or maybe none of them and I can make a list for 2013! I just want to accomplish on some level each of these in some way before the year is out.
