Christmas at the Randalls

Merry Christmas! I can’t believe it’s almost here, the Holiday spirit is in full swing at our house, complete with 3 house guests. A lot of people and of course our 3 animals and we have a house full of hustle and bustle. I majorly lucked out with some great Christmas decor scores this season, first up I took a simple felt wall hanging, a wood ornament from target and a old wreath to fill in my empty frames (don’t get me wrong I like the juxtaposition of ornate empty frames, but it was nice to add some holiday cheer)

Next I filled this deer bowl (found at a yard sale for $3) with some vintage ornaments (found at the AP) on the entry table

Next to the ornaments I pulled out our vintage Nativity set (passed down from Nick’s grandparents)

Always Important to remember that Jesus is the reason for the season! Our tree is filled with a mix of vintage, nick’s childhood and new ornaments and I really love how the snowflake garlands (used last year on the mantle looked on the tree) and of course the sweater tree skirt was used once again

On the opposite wall we took down our artwork and hung these great old snowshoes on loan from our friend, they were his dad’s. I love them, they really bring in the lodge feel.

Through the hall we have the candy cane garland, tied with this great felted mistletoe I got in DC from west elm (not available anymore according to the site)

The mantle antler is also on loan from our friend and I reused all the plaid and sweater fabric from the garland (now on the bookshelves) and tree skirt to insert into the mass of embroidery hoops I’ve been hoarding compulsively. The Wood pillars are candleholders that my friend’s dad made for her wedding

And the biggest transformation came in the living room where I finally got my grandma’s old couch that has been sitting in my other grandma’s garage on the west side of town for several months ever since my parents replaced it.

I got some plaid blankets from the plaza and the dogs really are loving this couch (maybe not liking the antlers as much)

yep, don’t love the antler headgear

The front of the couch (cleverly covered by a blanket) needs some work, which I hope to undertake early in the new year! I, of couse, had to use my mod deer family on the table next to those small antlers I found at a yard sale for $1 (they were still attached to a portion of skull though, it was gross, I had nick saw it off..it smelled terrible…)

And last, but not least even the office got a wee bit of christmas cheer

Merry Christmas!
